The internets are a-buzz with news that the N900 will be getting the 3rd public release (PR1.3) update in the next coming while…well if sources tell true, that will be week41-47. This week. Or the next few. In the past, Nokia has had slight issues with meeting dates – but that has recently changed with the new hardware launches. We’re told that it’s something to keep an eye on, Nokia is moving in the right direction.
In addition to numerous bugfixes and enhancements to Maemo 5, PR1.3 will bring the
*much requested* demand for
kexec kernel support, this is literally kernel-execution and allows instantaneous “live” kernel loading and overwriting. So, it means multiboot. It means MeeGo, it means Android and it even means other alternative platforms for the N900, such as
SHR OS
If you like the look and option of that, check out the following video;
Be sure to subscribe, keep your bookmarks up-to-date, or whatever you need to do as we’ll be posting as soon as PR1.3 goes live for download!
